Lindau & Munich
One the way from Switzerland to Munich, we stopped at Lindau, a Bavarian town on the east side of Lake Constance. Lindau is located close to where the borders of Switzerland, Austria and Germany meet. Once in Munich I had the opportunity to meet up with a friend that lives in Stuttgart who serve as my driver and tour guide for my scheduled day in Munich. I have to say that this is one of the great things the Rick Steves tour offer you, free time to explore on your own and flexibility not to do a scheduled activity as long as you don't miss your departure time. Also you need to understand that their scheduled activities are included in the price you pay for the tour and you are not going to get $$ back if you decide not to go. But at least you can make that choice if you wish. While in Munich with my friend, I was able to attend a local Spring fest, tour the Schloss Nymphenburg Palace and Gardens, and tour the Dachau Concentration camp, all in one day! It helps that driving in the Autobahn in a convertible with the top down was way COOL! and probably the reason we were able to do everything we did in one day. I have to say that the tour of the concentration camp was a solemn experience that I will never forget.
