Barcelona
A city of fascinating architecture...

Casa Batló
One of the things that attracted me to Barcelona was it's architecture and the city did not disappoint me. With my local tour guide I was able to explore the city by bus, metro and walking to gain access to many beautiful sites. To be able to walk into a residential building in the Barrio Gotico and just find roman ruins is incredible. Obviously the work of Antonio Gaudi is very prominent, but also other notable architects such as Jose Puig have interesting works in the city. It is necessary to note that right next to Gaudi's Casa Batló is Puig's Casa Amatller.
Barcelona also has great food!, but I have to admit that I fell it love with its most simple dish pan con tomate. The Mercat St. Josep " La Boqueria" is a market filled with fresh produce, tapas, and vibrant colors. Barcelona also have some fascinating churches like Santa Maria del Mar and it's Catedral de la Santa Creu y Santa Eulalia (La Seu).
After my visit to Santa Maria del Mar, my guide recommended that I read La Catedral del Mar by Idelfonso Falcones, which I highly recommend it was a fascinating story, with some historical notes about how the the church was built.
